POSITION - IT ANALYST

 

The position that we offer is entry level and will require one year of “hands on” experience as listed below.  It does not matter whether the individual has this experience after graduation or if it has been acquired while in college (lab technical support, etc).

 

DUTIES:

 

Assist the IS Field Services Lead in the coordination and execution of personal computer hardware and software installation, configuration and maintenance.  Network management, communications, local and wide area network technologies, support of IS Department policies and procedures  Administrative tasks related to Information Systems management and user support. (Windows Operating Systems and standard Windows based application software).

 

This position has a starting annual income of $50,000.00 depending on qualifications.  It will be based in San Antonio, Texas and requires travel between San Antonio, Dallas and Houston with all travel related expenses paid.  Total travel time, 30%.

Director of Administrative Technology

 Location: San Antonio, Texas

 

Job Type:  Full Time

 

 

Job Summary:

 

The Director of Administrative Technology provides vision and leadership for a comprehensive administrative computing environment for all corporate locations.  Generally, the Director of Administrative Technology is responsible for the database administration functions as well as system programming, troubleshooting, and system management within the corporate administrative information systems. System management includes configuration, security, resource monitoring and reporting, troubleshooting, and the development of specialized programs. 

 

Essential Functions:

 

1.     Coordinates and establishes priorities of the Administrative Technology office for the design, installation and maintenance of all administrative computing.

2.     Manages the database administration and standard setting functions for the corporation. Uses data dictionary, DBMS and OS to ensure data integrity and security, recover corrupted data and eliminate data redundancy and tuning tools to improve database performance.

3.     Collaborates with other senior management in the Information Services Division to build an information technology infrastructure that supports existing applications while remaining responsive to change.

4.     Provides advice, recommendations, direction, and resolution, and collaborates with individuals and departments from all sectors of the corporation on a wide range of technology and information management issues.

5.     Oversees, installs, and evaluates database management systems software, compilers and utilities.

6.     Installs new users, creates batch administration scripts and runs systems backups.

7.     Oversees the activities of the Administrative Technology office, including scheduling and prioritizing administrative activities; supervising and evaluating Administrative Technology staff.

8.     Establishes and implements short-and long-range office goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates program effectiveness; effects changes required for improvement.

9.     Coordinates with suppliers and other groups in designing, planning, installing, reconfiguring and upgrading corporate administrative technology hardware and software.

10. Provides periodic and ad hoc reports on administrative systems, as well as forecasts of future utilization and hardware/software requirements.

11. Identifies needs for new policies and/or areas where existing policies and procedures potentially require change.

12. Manages Disaster Recovery Contingency Plan.

13. Administers the office budget.

2.     Conducts presentations at local and national user groups.

1.     Advanced knowledge of administrative technology systems standards, planning, development, and management.

3.     Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.

4.     Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management.

5.     Ability to interpret and assess requirements, and direct the planning and implementation of administrative system services.

6.     Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.

7.     Employee development and performance management skills.

8.     Knowledge of contracting process and associated local, state, federal, and other regulations.

9.     Ability to develop bid specifications and evaluate bids from contractors.

10. Ability to develop systems solutions for operational problems.

11. Ability to supervise and train staff, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.

12. Ability to plan, develop and coordinate multiple projects.

13. Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.

14. Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise.

15. Excellent organizational, communication and budgeting skills with a strong commitment to customer service.

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

 

1.     Bachelor's degree in a related field or discipline.

2.     Minimum of 5 years experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

3.     Knowledge of Datatel Colleague and Unidata database preferred.
